Hi guys! This is the first post of what I hope to be a couple over the next few months. Essentially, I feel as if you guys deserve to know what's going on behind the scenes and what we're working on.
Firstly, let me mention the most significant change. After a lengthy discussion James and I have come to decision to remove the Admin rank. The reason for this is straight forward. There is no position on the server that deserves Admin without half of the managers getting promoted too. Essentially, everyone who would qualify as an Admin is a manager of some sort, which is why we'll slightly update manager. Manager will now have a dark red prefix (the colour Admin had).
Secondly, we're currently in the process of reworking the staff team, going through applications and such. I hope to have all open applications handled by tomorrow. There will be more updates concerning the staff team and staff as a whole in the near future, these will be announced later, when things are final and the time is right.
In terms of server management, I'm sure a lot of you guys are curious as to what's going on, what we're focusing on, why we haven't added X or fixed Y yet. Currently, we're focusing on polishing the existing gamemodes and completing everything and making it a quality experience. Our philosophy is to fix bugs before introducing features, which is why new releases of various things are always quite slow. That brings me to the next point: fixing bugs. Prioritizing is a big part of management, and we're trying to fix all the big things before we fix the small things. So, looking at you Neonz, it'll probably be a while before your alt's name is added to the filter whitelist.
In terms of our current gamemodes, I think it's safe to say that Destiny is doing quite well at the moment. Sure, there are issues but I think overall it's heading in the right direction. District and Vega on the other hand, they need a lot of work. District is far from complete, and admittedly, it's extremely rushed and needs to be polished. Not to mention that it's incomplete with many bugs and lack of features that you'd expect on a prison server and that we promised. I'll be working on it quite a lot to get everything sorted, while James focuses on the bigger picture and the long term experiences of TheNova. We're defintely not pulling a Crusaders with Vega, we promise! At the moment it's offline because we feel as if it's still too buggy to be on a live server, but we're getting there, working on updates behind the scenes.
Lastly James and I are sorting out core development side of things and improving our teamwork. We're trying to get to a point where I can deploy fixes for his bugs, and vice versa. I'm sure you noticed that when James was without WiFi for a couple of weeks I couldn't do anything. We're hoping to sort everything out making sure that this doesn't happen again! If you haven't noticed already (it says it on the staff list) I'm the network developer; I'll be working on the proxy a lot more, alongside District.
If you have any questions, please don't refrain from asking us! Perferably in the replies here, so if people have the same question they do not need to ask again. However, please be aware that we can't answer absolutely everything, we're trying to work on a need-to-know basis concerning major updates and upgrades.
Welcome to TheNova Forums!
